Kudos to the Auxiliary for hosting such an awesome St. Patrick’s Day party. They packed the house and sold out of food early! We’d like to thank Sue Banners, Barb Brasington, Linda Darr, Lisa Ochalek, and their many helpers for all of their hard work. The food was delicious (as usual), the decorations were beautiful, and the entertainment was great (thank you Whitey!). Finally, we’d like to thank everyone who attended. Your support is very appreciated.

Mardi Gras 2017 was a lot of fun! The food was delicious and plentiful, the face painting was a big hit, and the band had everyone up on their feet dancing. We’d like to thank the Old Skool Detroit Band for entertaining us with classic rock hits all evening. There was a nice mix of songs – fast and slow – that made our dancers happy. We’d also like to thank Joelene Brzezinski of Cat’s Meow Face Design for her face painting. It was fun to watch how she painted everyone differently, and it was hard to pick a favorite. Everyone looked great. Finally, we’d like to thank our very capable members who made the event possible. Nancy Fruit and her kitchen crew spent days planning, shopping, and preparing the food. Her helpers were Dave Walker, Nancy Shrove, Ryan Wojtyna, Gary Smith, Bruce Saffron, Nancy Blackwood, Joanna Paton and Barb Tomlinson. Our decorating committee includes Rozanne Ogger and Dianne Cullen, along with their helpers Kelley Sherwood and Virginia Truran. They spent days decorating the Aerie and setting up centerpieces on the tables. Our guests said everything looked very festive and welcoming. Our JOES (Junior Order of Eagles) did a wonderful job helping serve coffee, clear tables, wash dishes or take out the trash. They were a lot of help, and it’s nice to know our youth are taking seriously our “People Helping People” motto. A big thank you also to our employees for working so hard to help out. We appreciate your dedication more than you know. So, thank you everyone, and thank you to all of our guests. We’re happy you could spend the evening with us, and we hope to see you at our next event. The Kids' Christmas Party took place on December 17, 2016. It started off with fun stations for the kids to visit where they had fun decorating sugar cookies and ornaments, among other activities. After the activities, a lunch of pizza was served. The highlight of the afternoon followed with Santa arriving, passing out gifts to each child. The children finished the afternoon playing with their new toys. A great time was had by all! Thank you to all who volunteered to make the party a big success. The Adult Christmas Party was on Dec 10th and we had a full house. Everyone was in the holiday spirit, ready to enjoy the evening with friends. Brian Selke, formerly of Rocky Fortune, and two members formerly with Groovy, teamed up to create a new band - Old Skool Detroit, and they rocked the house with classic rock and roll. Everyone brought a dish to pass, there were yummy treats galore! One of the highlights of the evening was the white elephant gift exchange. A set of bowls with a yummy bag of M&M's and a crock-pot were a huge hit and were 'stolen' several times as names were drawn and gifts were chosen. It was a great evening, enjoyed by all. The 2016 "That's Amore for the Kids Live Auction Dinner Dance" fundraiser was held on November 12, 2016 and the turnout was fabulous. The evening started with socializing and appetizers, followed up by a delicious dinner catered by Nico & Vali Italian Eatery in Plymouth. The live auction was fast and fun and held everyone's interest with a wide assortment of great items to bid on. All proceeds from the evening will benefit pediatric cancer research at the Charles Woodson Research Center, CS Motts Children's Hospital, University of Michigan. A big thank you to all who attended and helped make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. Our 35th anniversary celebration was a wonderful evening, and it was awesome to see so many members - nearly 200 - enjoying themselves. We owe the Ladies Auxiliary our appreciation for planning the event, and we especially want to thank Debbie Gagneau for all her hard work. She literally spent hours making lasagna with her homemade sauce for dinner. Her special seasoning was a pinch of love that she feels for the Eagles, and we could all tell the difference it made. We also want to thank the Aerie members for setting up and tearing down tables and doing whatever was needed to make everyone feel welcome. Thanks also to our wonderful employees for working so hard to keep us all happy! Finally, we'd like to thank Cruisin '57 for entertaining us all evening with their music. They had us up on our feet dancing all night long. Kudos! You certainly helped make our evening memorable. For our fellow brothers and sisters who weren't able to attend, please know that you were missed and with us in spirit. God willing, we can all celebrate again in another 5 years. We survived the night among ghosts, goblins and witches at our Adult Halloween party! It must have been all the tasty food people brought to pass that helped us prevail. A big thank you to Six Foot Poles for providing songs like "Monster Mash" and audience favorite "Time Warp" from he Rocky Horror Picture Show. You really helped to make the evening spooky, er...fun! It wouldn't have been a Halloween party without costumes, and we certainly had a lot of good ones this year. Kudos to the winners of our best costume contest: 1st Dennis Snider, 2nd Lenny Cicotte, and 3rd Rich Cetnarowski, Jr. Great job, fellas! Our Kids' Halloween party was a big hit! There were lots of scary costumes and sweet ones, too. Everyone got their own pumpkin to decorate and take home, and they also frosted sugar cookies, played games, and received a bag of green slime! Of course, what would Halloween be without candy? Everyone received a trick-or-treat bag filled with lots and lots of candy! We want to thank the Ladies Auxiliary for organizing and hosting the party, as well as providing the pizza for lunch. Yum! Also, a big thank you to all of our members who donated candy. You're always there for us when we put out the call for help. Please know that you are all much appreciated. Friday nights are always a fun time for Aerie members to get together for a yummy dinner. On this night, Oct. 14, 2016, a delicious meatloaf dinner was served, followed by a fun time singing karaoke. Octoberfest was so much fun, and we want to thank everyone who attended. Your laughs, dancing and awesome friendliness made the evening special. We also want to thank Keith & Ginger Bruder and their very competent crew of volunteers (too many to list here). The Bruders had teams of people helping with cooking, decorating, advertising, raffles, shopping, and clean up, and their hard work showed. Take a bow, volunteers. We also want to thank the band - Die Fahrenden Musikanten. Your authentic German music was fun to listen to, and it was fun watching people doing the polka! Finally, we want to thank our employees for all their hard work keeping our glasses filled and trash cans emptied. You guys rock! |
